Recruiting is going so well for Michigan State that its coaching staff's focus is steadily shifting toward the 2010 class and beyond. "We're going to continue to bring what we feel are better and better players," said recruiting coordinator Mark Staten. Staten, also the tight ends coach, called the Spartans' 2009 class "stellar" and said there are only "a handful" of scholarship spots left to fill.
