Seven years have passed since Michigan State won a Big Ten regular-season men's basketball championship. It seems impossible. The Spartans have found every possible way to almost finish first.
In one four-year span, they finished one game out, two games out, one game out, two games out. In 2005, they finished 13-3. That's good enough to win the league almost every year; alas, Illinois went 15-1 that season.
