All of Michigan State's sports teams have earned passing academic grades from the NCAA. That includes the football team, which just made the cut with a four-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) score of 926. The cut line is 925, and sports teams that fall below that number can be hit with sanctions. The NCAA released its APR numbers Tuesday and revealed that a total of 218 teams at 123 schools will be sanctioned for poor academic performance. MSU officials were happy to report what associate athletic director Jim Pignataro called "great news."
