A total of thirty-one members of the Michigan State Track and Field team will head south to Jacksonsville, Florida to compete in the NCAA Preliminary Rounds held May 24th through the 26th. The University of North Florida will play host to the competition at Hodges Stadium. It will be the first time that North Florida will serve as track and field hosts for an NCAA championship round.

Michigan State heads to Madison this weekend for the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, hosted by the University of Wisconsin. The Spartans, who claimed outdoor titles in 1965, 1966, and 1972, hope to claim a fourth Big Ten title in 2012 under the guidance of the Director of Track & Field, Walt Drenth.

The Michigan State track & field team wrapped up action on Saturday at the Bob Eubanks Open at the Kelly Family Sports Center hosted by Grand Valley State University. At the end of day two, the Spartans finished with a combined 16 first-place performances which included three new meet records.

Three members of the Michigan State volleyball team - Amy Dentlinger, Alexis Mathews and Lauren Wicinski - will be among a group of 48 student-athletes who were selected to take part in the 2012 U.S. Women's National A2 Program. They will travel to Columbus, Ohio on June 26 for training camp and competition.

Running fast is something senior sprinter and hurdler Leslie Aririguzo has been accustomed to doing since a young age. In elementary school, Aririguzo was the best at the physical tests among fellow students and would blow by everyone when it came to the 50-yard dash.

The Spartan Track and Field sprints team walked away from the Polytan Invitational with a number of solid performances. Leading the Spartans was Senior Leslie Aririguzo who won the women’s 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.48. Aririguzo came close to breaking her own school record in the event, one that she shares with Jackie Walton who set the record in 2008 at 13.46.

Michigan State finished action yesterday at the Al Owens Classic with three individual wins - two in throwing events - and numerous top five finishes in the two day event held at Grand Valley State University. The Spartans fielded a small squad for the meet, with other select competitors being sent to the Polytan Invitational at the University of Indiana. Zach Hill, Antonio James, and Drake Veitenheimer turned in winning marks for MSU.

Michigan State travels to Ohio State to compete in their third outdoor meet of the season, the Jesse Owens Track Classic. Action is scheduled to begin on Friday, April 13th, at 4:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. and Saturday, April 14th, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The meet serves as a stage for some of the best collegiate and post-collegiate athletes to compete in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
