Most of us thought MSU would be improved, but now the Spartans are in position to be in the top 4 of the CCHA as well as a NCAA tournament team, and as the 2007 Spartans showed - you just need to get in to win. Who would want to face MSU in the tournament at this point? The Spartans would be a very dangerous team.

It's the most played rivalry in college hockey. The rivalry pits families against each other, and even though the hockey rivalry might not carry the public weight the football and basketball rivalries do. It's probably the most even over its history. Both teams have tasted quite a bit of success winning multiple national and CCHA titles, along with numerous Frozen Four appearances.

When it comes to penalty killing, nobody does it better in the CCHA than Michigan State. Nationally, there's only one team with better numbers on the penalty kill than the Spartans. While MSU's power play has struggled most of the season, penalty killing has flourished.
