Men's Basketball mlive.com —  "They've just got more depth than most people and more experienced depth," Izzo said. "I don't even know if they're playing a freshman. If they are, not many minutes. This is one of the most experienced teams in the league this year." After shutting down a guard-oriented Indiana team, the Spartans now pivot to a team that relies largely on a large frontcourt -- and one that Izzo compared to Maryland.

Travis Trice fuels second-half flurry as Michigan State grabs road win MLive
Denzel Valentine helped Michigan State climb back into the game, and Travis Trice went on a run for the ages to erase a double-digit halftime deficit and help the Spartans pick up a key win in its Big Ten road opener. Michigan State got 25 points from Trice as it came back to beat Iowa, 75-61, Thursday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Trice as nice: Senior heats up, rallies MSU past Iowa Detroit News
Apparently, Travis Trice had enough. The Michigan State guard was on the court as he and his teammates were getting beaten handily at Iowa on Thursday night. The offense was stagnant and it appeared the Spartans were in trouble. That is, until Trice took over.

Michigan State goes from dreadful to dominant in topsy turvy win MLive
Michigan State was in the midst of one of its worst stretches of the year, in danger of getting run out of the building in its Big Ten road opener, and Tom Izzo was standing there watching. Instead of calling a timeout during an extended Iowa run late in the first half, Izzo opted to let his young team play through it.

We’ll never know which Hawkeyes fan threw a verbal jab at Travis Trice Thursday night. We’ll probably never know what he said. But we’ll all remember what happened next. “Somebody actually in the front row said something to me in the first half that kind of made me mad,” Trice said. “(Iowa) can blame it on him. I can’t repeat what they said, but they said something and it got me going.”

Hoops Recap: Trice's Star Burst The Only Colors
MSU basketball is off to a nice start to 2015, aren't they? This was clearly a tale of two halves, as MSU went into halftime down 39-28, and then rallied to outscore Iowa by 25 points(!) in the second half behind 12-17 three-point shooting. This was fun, and I think we're back down to DEFCON 4 in terms of making the tournament.

The Spartans had just played what Izzo later called the "worst 10 minutes of basketball we've played," and trailed the Hawkeyes, 39-28. So, as both Travis Trice and Denzel Valentine said afterward, it was "rough" in the Michigan State locker room.
