Michigan State's starting offense opened the Spartans' first full spring scrimmage with a touchdown drive capped when Connor Cook hit tailback Jeremy Langford on a short pass that Langford took 38 yards into the end zone. The final score of the 125-play scrimmage was Offense 27, Defense 25, in a game that saw the defense spotted its 25 points.

The offense beat the defense, Tyler O’Connor and DeAnthony Arnett stood out, and the Michigan State pass rush was active. Those are some of the takeaways from MSU’s first scrimmage of spring ball, which took place Friday afternoon. It was a closed scrimmage, but MSU released stats, information and comments.

The Michigan State offense, behind the strength of their passing attack, won the first offense-defense Spring scrimmage by the score of 27-25. The defense was spotted 25 points at the start, a different scoring system from the past, I believe, and that lead held until the 2nd to last series of the scrimmage, when the offense finally pulled ahead.
