The Spartans victory over Ohio State on the road launched them up four spots in the AP poll to get back into the top ten at 7. The Spartans are number 8 in the Coaches Poll which is a climb of four spots. They climbed two spots in the RPI rankings up to 4.

Last week, before the then-No. 11 MSU men’s basketball team beat then-No. 3 Ohio State 58-48 head coach, Tom Izzo spent some time talking with senior guard Brandon Wood. Less then a week before that, Izzo put Wood in a reserve role against Michigan for the first time since he transfered from Valparaiso. Wood responded with a solid performance, but after he didn’t start the next game — a win over Penn State — Izzo said he thought Wood was a little discouraged.
