When Branden Dawson went down with a season-ending knee injury in the MSU men’s basketball team’s regular season finale a week and a half ago, the Spartans didn’t have much time to adjust. Four days later, MSU traveled to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Tournament without the freshman guard — who started all 31 games before tearing his left anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL, in a 72-70 loss to Ohio State.

Anderson last played in the NBA during the 2006-07 season for the Bobcats. Turning 30 in October, he wants another shot. “I’ve played at the highest level overseas,” he said. “I’ve seen as high as you can go and made a lot of money over there. I wouldn’t call the Louisville Cardinals and their Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino intimidated. What I would call them is acutely aware of Big Ten Player of the Year and potential college basketball player of the year Draymond Green.
