Ice Hockey msuspartans.com —  In each of the last two games between Michigan State and the highly skilled U.S. National Team Development Program’s Under-18 team, forward Dylan Pavelek and goaltender Ed Minney have been on the winning team. Two seasons ago, Pavelek and Minney were members of the U-18 team that knocked off the Spartans, 4-3 in overtime, at Munn Arena. As MSU freshmen last season, Pavelek and Minney played key roles as the Spartans skated to a 4-1 victory over the U.S. team, also at Munn Arena.

Ice Hockey freep.com —  It isn’t Mark Hollis’ way to talk about personnel matters during a sport’s season. That doesn’t mean he won't discuss the continued struggles of Michigan State's hockey program. “Obviously, I’m spending hours watching over programs that need some recalibration,” Hollis told reporters Thursday during the Michigan AP Sports meeting at the Lansing State Journal offices, “and hockey is one of those.”

Ice Hockey mlive.com —  Departing Michigan State safety RJ Williamson is back on the football field chasing his dreams at East-West Shrine Game practices in St. Petersburg, Florida. "It's kind of like riding a bike," said Williamson, who missed eight games his senior season on account of a torn biceps muscle that required surgery on Oct. 4. Ice Hockey theplayerstribune.com —  I blew it. As soon as I heard the ping off the crossbar, I just thought: That’s it. You just saw your dream go out the window. I had just come down the ice on a 3-on-1 rush in the 2007 NCAA Championship. Tie game. Thirty seconds left. Puck on my stick. The exact moment every kid daydreams about. Just me and the goalie. I fired it high glove. Ping. No. No.

Ice Hockey theonlycolors.com —  Last weekend was the lowest point in a season that has had very few highs, as the Michigan State Spartans were swept in a two game series against Michigan by a score of 15-5. The Spartans have not won a game since December 11 and that win is their sole win in the last 14 games. Things will hardly get easier this weekend as the Spartans are traveling to Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers (9-10), who seem to be finding their game after an up-and-down first half of the season.

Ice Hockey statenews.com —  For talented hockey players in Sweden, there is a pretty standard route to making it big. First, they play for junior or youth teams operated by professional clubs. And next, if they are good enough, they advance to the professional level of club play. That wasn’t the case for MSU junior forward Villiam Haag, though, because he packed his bags and moved 4,007 miles and six time zones away from his hometown of Gothenburg, Sweden.
