The first period started off hot for the Boston Eagles as Zach Sanford scores a goal just 39 seconds in. The referees put the play under review but ended up granting the Eagles the goal. #8 Boston College 3 - Michigan State 2 The Only Colors
The tenets of a Tom Anastos team are still there. Giving up the body to block shots, finishing the third period strong and keeping games close. Unfortunately on nights when Jake Hildebrand isn't awesome, the offense isn't able to cover up those mistakes. Especially when playing a goaltender like Thatcher Demko from Boston College, who may be the best goaltender in college hockey.

Ice Hockey theonlycolors.com —  Yes, Boston College sits at just 4-5. Yes, they have lost four games in a row, including one each to teams like Connecticut and Harvard. This may not be a team stocked with the same talent it has had lately after being in the Frozen Four 3 of the last 4 seasons, with championships in two of those years. Make no mistake this is still Boston College, a premier program in college hockey and represents the best chance for a Spartan marque win outside of Minnesota all season.

Ice Hockey uscho.com —  For Michigan State, the slow path to rebuilding is no accident. “It’s a calculated plan,” said assistant coach Tom Newton, now in his 25th year with the Spartans. “If you want to have a good team, you can take some shortcuts and you can have a good team for a year or two and be back at the bottom of the barrel,” said Newton. “Tom [Anastos] wanted to build a program. The type of player and student-athlete he wanted to bring in, he went out and found them.”
