Football mlive.com —  The Michigan State players could see and hear the laughter at AT&T Stadium, it was all around, and it was loud and embarrassing. That's what happens when a 6-foot-7, 390-pounder named LaQuan McGowan has a 18-yard catch-and-run touchdown against a prideful defense that was supposed to have learned its lessons from losses to national title game combatants Oregon and Ohio State.

Football post-gazette.com —  Steelers running back and team MVP Le’Veon Bell has been ruled out of Saturday’s AFC wild-card game against the Baltimore Ravens, leaving the starting duties in the hands of an undrafted rookie free agent who has never started an NFL game. Football mlive.com —  Michigan State two-way starter Tony Lippett was too busy trying to keep up with the Baylor receivers to keep up with his snap count in Thursday's Cotton Bowl at AT&T Stadium. "I probably played like 35 to 40 on defense, and the same on offense,'' Lippett said. "I couldn't keep up with it.''

His school, Michigan State, won, beating Baylor in the Cotton Bowl.

Football detroitnews.com —  MSU can break a Big Ten record with a fifth consecutive bowl next season. Other programs have exceeded this feat. Alabama won six straight bowls from 1975 to 1980. The Crimson Tide would have won 11 straight except having lost the 1982 Cotton Bowl to Texas 14-12. USC won six straight bowls during the same span, which included four Rose Bowls.

Football freep.com —  Let's be honest, I'm just coming up with a lame reason to get Jim Harbaugh's name in a headline so I can siphon some of those precious web hits – our Michigan beat writer, Mark Snyder, has the Internet clout right now of a Kate Upton. There were some nauseating moments in the past few days, though, and I'm not talking about the hire itself – the obvious No. 1 choice for U-M – or anything Harbaugh said. I'm talking about some things I heard and read from the national perspective on what it means.

Football theonlycolors.com —  You can all admit it. When LaQuan McGowan caught an 18-yard TD pass from Bryce Petty to put Baylor up 20 points on Michigan State late in the third quarter, thoughts to what such a lopsided loss, coupled with defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi's move to become the head man at Pittsburgh, would do to the program entering 2015.
