Powers was presented the award during the annual National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Division I Women's Collegiate Golf Awards Banquet which took place Friday, May 24 in Athens, Ga. The Dinah Shore Trophy Award, which is administered by the LPGA Foundation, recognizes a female collegiate golfer who excels in both academics and athletics.

The Spartans posted their best-ever finish at the NCAA Championships by tying for ninth place, surpassing their 12th-place finish in 2002. Christine Meier led the way, tying for sixth place to equal the best finish by a Spartan at the NCAA Championships.

Women's Golf msuspartans.com —  Led by junior Christine Meier's 3-under-par 69, the Michigan State women's golf team shot a 10-over 298 in Thursday's third round of the NCAA Championships and is in 12th place with a team score of 23-over 887 (298-291-298) heading into Friday's fourth and final round at the University of Georgia Golf Course. Meier's round of 69 was not only a personal best, but also tied an MSU single-round record at the NCAA Championships.

Women's Golf msuspartans.com —  Michigan State senior women's golfer Caroline Powers has been named to the Capital One NCAA Division 1 Academic All-District 5 Women's At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Powers, who graduated in May with a 3.86 GPA in elementary education, is now eligible to earn Academic All-America honors.
