Julius Mays is looking to play for a third college basketball team. And, according to reports, the Wright State junior transfer is eying Michigan State, along with other programs. Mays averaged just over 14 points his junior season with Wright State after leaving North Carolina State at the end of the 2010 season.

Jahlil Okafor, a 6-foot-10 center from Chicago Whitney Young High School, scored 17 points in a 90-59 victory for his Mac Irvin Fire summer travel team on Friday night against Ohio Varsity. Linebackers Shane Jones and Jon Reschke have been nominated for selection to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl after verbally committing to Michigan State. The two members of the Spartans' 2013 recruiting class were among the top 400 high school seniors to be nominated to play in the Jan. 5, 2013 game in San Antonio.

Yes, Tom Izzo saw the Heat's pseudo-meltdown at the end on Sunday. At least the man who has taken Michigan State to six Final Fours caught the highlights of that Game 4 loss to the Knicks. "Thought it was a weird game," Izzo said Monday morning at Addison Reserve Country Club. "I thought for the most part that the Heat would get 'em."

Michigan State Spartans basketball followers have been spoiled since Tom Izzo took over as coach. It's possible they're one of the most comfortable and confident fanbases in all of sports. Six Final Fours, and a national title -- constantly running toward Big Ten titles -- have made the Michigan State faithful expect nothing but the best each season.

“Denzel has a lot of those qualities that I used to see in films of Earvin because he's always got his head up,” Izzo said. “If you watch him play, his head is up from the minute he's about to get the ball. Meaning, the ball goes through the basket, and he's already got his head up looking at where he's going to outlet the ball to. If he's got the ball in his hands, he sees everybody, everything, and can make a simple pass. He's big enough to see over people.”

Gary Harris may be the higher-rated player coming to Michigan State, but Denzel Valentine might end up being more exciting to watch. Valentine, formerly of Lansing Sexton, is a four-star shooting guard who has been compared to legendary Spartans phenom Magic Johnson. Valentine was arguably the best prep player in Michigan in 2012, but he didn't win the title of Mr. Basketball.
