Yes, Tom Izzo saw the Heat's pseudo-meltdown at the end on Sunday. At least the man who has taken Michigan State to six Final Fours caught the highlights of that Game 4 loss to the Knicks. "Thought it was a weird game," Izzo said Monday morning at Addison Reserve Country Club. "I thought for the most part that the Heat would get 'em."

Linebackers Shane Jones and Jon Reschke have been nominated for selection to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl after verbally committing to Michigan State. Michigan State right fielder Jimmy Pickens has been named the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Pickens hit .500 (6-for-12), collected seven RBIs, and scored four times to help the Spartans to a road series win at Illinois over the weekend. Pickens also compiled a slugging percentage of 1.000 and had an OPS of 1.538 in the three games. It marked MSU's first series win in Champaign, Ill., since 2003.

Nine months before signing day, with less than half of its class committed, Michigan State's 2013 recruiting haul is getting solid reviews, however premature. The Spartans' 2013 class, seven players deep to this point, is thus far the 20th-ranked class, at least in the eyes of Scout.com, which released its first rankings Monday.

This week junior Michaela Silesova (Topolcany, Slovakia) sat down with msuspartans.com to answer some questions about her pre-match rituals and why she came to MSU. Silesova saw action on courts three and four in singles play and won a total of five matches. She also went 4-5 at the No. 2 doubles position.

Rushing offense and defense don't matter nearly as much as everyone thinks they do in the Big Ten. Nor particularly does, 'establishing the run' or 'running to set up the pass'. There is one stat, that, if you can get really high marks at it on both sides of the ball, you are nearly guaranteed success.
