This is definitely going to be an interesting season for Michigan State. Tom Izzo has rarely been in a situation like the one this year, so it will be challenging for him and the players. At some point, the team will have to come together and realize what they have to work with and gel no matter the hand they were dealt.

I honestly cannot believe that this is still getting attention. Obviously Michigan fans are still rattled by their loss and will not let go. Even after the Big Ten confirmed that there was one second left on the clock, there is still controversy. Lets not pay any attention to that Spartan faithful, we have bigger and better things on our minds and come Saturday the nation will see just what I'm talking about.

If the Wizard of Oz they discuss in this article is Sam Raimi's Oz: The Great and Powerful (which will film in Detroit), Spartan alum Raimi better cast him.

You left out Brad van Pelt. He was All-American, wasn't he?

I tend to agree with you, but root may be the wrong word. I want Ohio State to lose.

I beg to differ. Not only could a UM victory give MSU a Rose Bowl berth, but it could give some unwarranted job security to Rich Rod. The longer Rodriguez is coaching at UM, the better it is for MSU!

While losing Allen is a blow to the team's outside shooting depth, it also opens the door for Summers to become a star. Despite his break out NCAA Tournaments he was still going to be sharing minutes with Allen, now their is no shadow of a doubt who the shooting guard will be. Plus this also allows freshman Keith Appling a tremendous opportunity to prove himself as his minute total will be increased dramatically. Granted more minutes will raise expectations and put more pressure on him, but he seems up to the challenge. Ever since their 2000 title team this program has struggled to find consistent low post scoring from multiple players. If Nix, Green, and Payne can mold together and provide a consistent dose of low post scoring this will go a long ways towards the Spartans contending for another title.

I think it would work well for Michigan State to play Central Michigan every spring. Maybe even play other schools around Michigan, Western, Eastern, Grand Valley.

Who would have thought it would be Michigan State and Butler in the Final Four playing against each other. Many people would have put Kansas, K-State, Syracuse, Georgetown, Ohio State, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt etc. before these teams. Michigan State was a top-dog before the season started and dropped as the season went on, but the fact they are doing all of this without Kalin Lucas is one of the most impressive parts about it. Heck, Tennessee was a shot away from making it as a 6th seed… man I love the NCAA
If you want an in depth write up, preview and predictions for Michigan State vs. Butler go to: http://www.lionsdenu.com/march-madness-2010-final-four-vs-butler/ and weigh in on the action.. also vote who you think will move on to the national championship
Butler is SO hot winning 24 straight games.. the last time they lost was back on December 22nd 2009… before X-mas!!! Insane! And the fact they are playing five miles away from their campus is going to be nuts .. talk about home-court advantage!!

Another good option would be Sedrick Irvin, although was just recently hired as a running backs coach by Memphis. He was a coaching intern for Alabama and was mentioned by Mark Ingram in his Heisman acceptance speech.

I was thinking it may be more directed to how far the Spartans have come while the Wolverines have become bottom dwellers. Then again...

funny, they say at one point "A conference championship would be huge in Ann Arbor as the Spartans haven't had any part of a Big Ten title in football since 1990."....guess they don't know where EL is.

Hearing Calhoun say that UConn needs to make Michigan State shoot from the outside, keep them off the glass and run makes me smile. I think that if UConn runs too much, the Spartans' depth will work in our favor.
