While losing Allen is a blow to the team's outside shooting depth, it also opens the door for Summers to become a star. Despite his break out NCAA Tournaments he was still going to be sharing minutes with Allen, now their is no shadow of a doubt who the shooting guard will be. Plus this also allows freshman Keith Appling a tremendous opportunity to prove himself as his minute total will be increased dramatically. Granted more minutes will raise expectations and put more pressure on him, but he seems up to the challenge. Ever since their 2000 title team this program has struggled to find consistent low post scoring from multiple players. If Nix, Green, and Payne can mold together and provide a consistent dose of low post scoring this will go a long ways towards the Spartans contending for another title.

I think it would work well for Michigan State to play Central Michigan every spring. Maybe even play other schools around Michigan, Western, Eastern, Grand Valley.

Who would have thought it would be Michigan State and Butler in the Final Four playing against each other. Many people would have put Kansas, K-State, Syracuse, Georgetown, Ohio State, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt etc. before these teams. Michigan State was a top-dog before the season started and dropped as the season went on, but the fact they are doing all of this without Kalin Lucas is one of the most impressive parts about it. Heck, Tennessee was a shot away from making it as a 6th seed… man I love the NCAA
If you want an in depth write up, preview and predictions for Michigan State vs. Butler go to: http://www.lionsdenu.com/march-madness-2010-final-four-vs-butler/ and weigh in on the action.. also vote who you think will move on to the national championship
Butler is SO hot winning 24 straight games.. the last time they lost was back on December 22nd 2009… before X-mas!!! Insane! And the fact they are playing five miles away from their campus is going to be nuts .. talk about home-court advantage!!

Another good option would be Sedrick Irvin, although was just recently hired as a running backs coach by Memphis. He was a coaching intern for Alabama and was mentioned by Mark Ingram in his Heisman acceptance speech.

I was thinking it may be more directed to how far the Spartans have come while the Wolverines have become bottom dwellers. Then again...

funny, they say at one point "A conference championship would be huge in Ann Arbor as the Spartans haven't had any part of a Big Ten title in football since 1990."....guess they don't know where EL is.

Here's the video: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4083232 McShay starts talking about Hoyer at 3:13 and compares him to Tom Brady and Matt Hasselback. "I think Brian Hoyer can be the shock of this years draft."

I never bet against the Spartans. I do think it will be awfully tough for Spartans to pull the upset tonight

Just awesome! Another great victory for the Spartans. Can't wait for 8:00 PM Monday. One more win for the mighty Spartans.

Hearing Calhoun say that UConn needs to make Michigan State shoot from the outside, keep them off the glass and run makes me smile. I think that if UConn runs too much, the Spartans' depth will work in our favor.

It seems Yarina has a definite bias against MSU. Penn State had two first team players. How can Kalin Lucas not be Big Ten Player of the Year after Michigan State took the Big Ten by a wide margin? Especially since he apparently didn't have any top support considering only one other Spartan made Yarina's top three teams. If you look at what Walton was able to accomplish in regards to shutting down the Big Ten's top players, he is the Defensive POTY hands down.

And they don't even mention Ryan Lovette who is Playboy's Cyber Girl of the week for March 2. She's the one who got kicked out of her sorority for posing for Girls of the Big Ten.

Interestingly I just had a conversation with my uncle who lives in Florida who says he runs into people who ask why the jerseys only have "State" on them. His reply was because that's all we need, everyone knows who State is.

It's interesting to see a national website say that people recognise us as "State". I wouldn't have guessed that.

This was actually published earlier in the week. I can't believe that Free Press took so long to find it. Even an amatuer like myself had it on their blog days ago.
