The Michigan State women’s golf team took second place at the 35th annual Mary Fossum Invitational on Sunday at Forest Akers West in East Lansing. Junior Allyson Geer-Park tied for medalist honors with Anna Redding of Virginia as the two tied a tournament record at 9-under-par 207.
The Michigan State women’s golf team is in fourth place after two rounds of play on Saturday at the 35th annual Mary Fossum Invitational at Forest Akers West. MSU is 1-under-par 575 (291-284), four shots back of tournament leader Virginia. Georgia and Florida are tied for second place at 2-under-par 574.
The two-time defending Big Ten champion Michigan State women’s golf team will begin its 2018-19 season this weekend with the 35th annual Mary Fossum Invitational. The annual fall tournament will take place at Forest Akers West on Saturday (36 holes) and Sunday (18 holes). Saturday’s opening round at the par-72, 6,334-yard course is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. and Sunday’s final round will get underway at 9 a.m. Admission is free to spectators.
Junior Spartan golfer Allyson “Ally” Geer Park has never done anything at anybody else’s pace. She was walking before her peers, beating the boys at her local club when she was 10-years-old and even graduated high school a semester early. Her talent was so prodigious that MSU women’s golf coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll offered her a scholarship the summer after she finished eighth grade.

The Michigan State men’s golf team took eighth place at the season-opening Gopher Invitational at the Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, Minnesota. The Spartans shot an 8-over-par 292 in Monday’s final round at the par-71, 7,368 yard course and finished the tournament 16-over-par 868 (288-288-292), four shots out of the top five.

The Michigan State men’s golf team will begin the 2018-19 season this weekend at the Gopher Invitational in Independence, Minnesota. The two-day event at the Windsong Farm Golf Club will begin Sunday, Sept. 9 with 36 holes and wrap up on Monday with the final round. Additionally, three Spartans will take place in the Gopher Individual on Sunday and Monday at Pioneer Creek Golf Course.
Head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll and the Michigan State women’s golf program has released the schedule for the upcoming 2018-19 season. The Michigan State men’s golf team shot a 19-over-par 303 in the opening round of the NCAA Columbus Regional on Monday at the OSU Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. The Spartans currently stand in 10th place and are 10 shots out of the top five at the 7,364-yard course.
Michigan State is making its third consecutive NCAA Regional appearance as it will be one of 13 teams competing at the OSU Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio, May 14-16. The top five teams from the 54-hole Columbus Regional, plus the top individual not on one of the five advancing teams, will move on to the NCAA Championships, May 25-30 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
