The Michigan State men’s swimming and diving team started the Big Ten Championships off on a high note by setting three varsity records led by sophomore Payton Woods. With the addition of these three new records, Michigan State’s men and women have broken 10 over the course of the season.
The Spartans return to the Golden State for the second-straight weekend, heading to Malibu, California for a three-game series at Pepperdine at Eddy D. Field Stadium. The series opens on Friday, Feb. 23, with first pitch slated for 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT. Game two of the series is Saturday, Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT, before the series finale on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.
Michigan State gymnastics hits the road Friday for the first of a three-meet road swing heading to No. 25 Iowa State for a quad meet with Big Ten opponent No. 19-ranked Minnesota and UW Stout.
Last year the Pepperdine Waves finished 20-32 (8-19 Conf). The Waves play in the WCC, which is short for the West Coast Conference. In 2017 they were the third worst team within that conference, only winning 29.6% of their league games. The only teams worse were Pacific (6 wins) and Portland (5 wins).

Michigan State commit Spencer Brown reaffirmed his commitment to the Spartans with Spartan Tailgate’s Sean Scherer on Wednesday, saying he was “1,000 percent committed.”This comes after the Walled Lake Western offensive tackle visited Michigan on Sunday.

Notre Dame has clinched first place in the Big Ten and Michigan State is locked in to finish in seventh. The Irish know they’ve got a first-round bye in the conference playoffs and the Spartans are on track to play Ohio State in a best-of-three first-round series. But for both teams, there’s still much to gain from this weekend’s series between MSU and No. 5-ranked Notre Dame.

The Spartans have put together their best stretch of the season when it comes to taking care of the ball since that 25-turnover performance at Illinois. They committed 15 turnovers in a home win over Penn State on Jan. 31, but they never coughed it up more than 13 times in any of the other eight games the last month.

Michigan State entered last season with a young secondary comprised entirely of new full-time starters. And, some of the early returns weren’t encouraging.
Michigan State’s postgame celebration on Tuesday night had all the markings of an ending with a goal accomplished. After the Spartans beat Illinois to clinch at least a share of the Big Ten title, the team brought out a championship trophy and raised it as a team. Players watched as a 2018 Big Ten championship banner was raised above them. They said emotional farewells to the team’s three seniors.
In a game with 10 lead changes, the Michigan State women’s basketball team stopped Wisconsin, 69-61, on Senior Night Wednesday at the Breslin Center. Michigan State celebrated a quintet of seniors Branndais Agee, Kiara Carter, Lexi Gussert, Kennedy Johnson and Taya Reimer.
