When Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio walked into the locker room at about midnight last Saturday, he saw disappointment smeared across his players’ faces. That was expected. The Spartans had just been routed 38-18 at home under the lights in a nationally-televised game. Looking around, Dantonio also saw a lot of players who were experiencing the pain for a first time. Between true freshmen, redshirt freshmen and players taking on bigger roles this season, it was the first significant setback.
