I’m going to start this off by saying Brian Lewerke is the unquestioned starting quarterback heading into the 2017 Michigan State football season — as he should be. The sophomore gunslinger proved himself in limited time last season and earned the No. 1 job. However, there could be a battle brewing for that No. 2 job under center. Redshirt freshman Messiah deWeaver missed most of spring with an injury, but is back and fully healthy, poised to make a run at playing time. Damion Terry, a senior, stands in his way.
